A Legendary Tradition Since 1934

Founded in 1934, the Classique internationale de canots de la Mauricie is one of the oldest marathon canoe races in the world. Each year, during Labor Day weekend, the best canoeists take on nearly 200 km between La Tuque and Trois-Rivières, facing rapids and portages along the majestic Saint-Maurice River.

As the final leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of marathon canoeing, alongside the General Clinton Canoe Regatta (New York) and the AuSable River Canoe Marathon (Michigan), the Classique attracts international-level athletes.

Among its most iconic figures, Serge Corbin, a native of the region, holds the record with 26 victories. More than just a competition, the Classique is a unifying event that celebrates endurance, tradition, and a deep passion for canoeing in Mauricie.

A New Era

In 2025, the 92nd edition marks a historic turning point for the Classique internationale de canots de la Mauricie.

Following the financial troubles of the previous organization, a brand-new team of passionate canoeists—already behind the Défi de Canot de la Saint-Maurice (DCSM)—took over the reins of the event.

This revival is more than just a transition: it’s a true rebirth. Rooted in tradition but resolutely future-focused, the Classique is coming back with renewed energy, driven by those who know every wave, every portage, every breath.
